What is the first thing people see when they come to your home? Your lawn and garden of course! Your lawn and garden is a reflection of yourself and your image. Many people will judge you based upon the appearance of your yard.
Forget those dirty clothes lying on the couch, people don't see that when passing by your home, but they do see your lawn! The first impression that visitors get when going to your home is your yard.
A poorly maintained lawn and garden may make people think of you as an unorganized or just plain lazy person, even if you are not. You can have the most beautiful home in the world, but if your lawn looks horrible, it takes away from the beauty of your home.
Now I know that it is not fair to judge someone just by the image of his or her lawn, but as we all know, life is not fair! So, if you want to create a good image for yourself then you must at least have a decent and maintained lawn. A garden is not as necessary, but well manicured and maintained plants are a great help.
Designing a lawn and or garden is not that difficult. You can get ideas from several different sources. Pickup a lawn and garden magazine and read the different articles, check out the pictures. Make a visit to your local lawn and garden supply store and walk around to get different ideas on what you would like.
Most people say that they just don't have the time to create a beautiful lawn and garden, but that is boloney! It doesn't take too much to touch up your yard and give it a quick makeover. You don't have to do the project all in one day. You can plan your project and complete it over several weekends or whenever you have time available.
Another way to dress up your yard can be a small fountain or statue. You will be surprised at what just a few lawn and garden decorations can do for the appearance of your home.
If you don't already have lawn and garden tools & equipment, then you will need to purchase some, unless you have a nice enough neighbor that doesn't mind you borrowing their tools all the time!
Another must is a lawn sprinkler system. There is no sense in creating a beautiful lawn and garden if you cannot keep up with watering. I would highly recommend an automatic lawn sprinkler system, so that you don't have to be bothered with dragging around the hose at inconvenient hours.
Having a well-maintained yard will show others that you do take pride in your home and care about the appearance of your neighborhood. Most importantly, having a well-maintained lawn and garden will make you feel better..
