Rainbird Sprinklers

Rainbird lawn sprinkler systems are the most widely known and used by irrigation professionals. Rainbird has been around since 1933 and has proven itself to be the leader in its' industry. Rain Bird's first patent was granted in 1935 and was for the first impact driven sprinkler which was invented by a man named Orton Englehart.

Today, Rainbird sprinklers are an icon of the American Landscape. Rainbird irrigation products all come with either a three or five year warranty, depending on the part. All the mid-grade, professional and commercial Rainbird sprinklers come with five-year warranties. The less expensive Rainbird sprinkler models will usually come with a three-year warranty.

The Rainbird lawn sprinkler heads that I prefer the best are the 5000 series rotors. These Rainbird sprinkler heads are tough, durable, and moderately priced gear-driven rotor sprinkler heads. The Rainbird T-Bird series rotors come in 4 common sizes. The shrub rotor for mounting on fixed risers, four inch pop ups for shorter grasses, six inch pop up for taller grasses, and 12" high pop rotors for behind shrubs.

No Rainbird sprinkler system would be complete without a Rainbird rain sensor. This device will automatically shut off your lawn sprinkler system during rain. There is a disc inside the rain sensor that is made of a cardboard/sponge like material that expands when it gets wet and contracts when it dries out. The expansion of the disc puts a break in the common (negative) wire going to the electric valves and the pump-start relay. Without a complete circuit, the valves will not open and the pump will not kick on.

You can set the Rainbird rain sensor to shut off the sprinkler system from 1/8" to 1" of rainfall. The rain sensor is designed so that the disc dries out at approximately the same rate as the soil, so once the rain has soaked in, run off, or been evaporated, the system is then activated again and will resume it's regularly programmed schedule.

Rainbird sprinkler systems are what Coke is to cola. You can easily spot a Rainbird sprinkler head when you see one. Their unmistakable bird logo symbolizes an ancient myth, which was believed by the Aztecs, about a bird that would bring rain and save their crops. The Rainbird logo is now a recognized symbol around the World. Whether it's Rainbird sprinkler heads or Rainbird rain sensors, Rainbird sprinkler products are my product of choice when installing irrigation systems. Complete Rainbird systems are my specialty.
